Do you put on your sunglasses while going out under sun? Do you eat healthy meals and foods rich in vitamin and mineral? Do you practice eye exercises on a regular basis?

Usually, the major eye issues like cataract and Glaucoma develop gradually with the vision getting weak in the initial stage. These issues are often overlooked unless it becomes extreme and results in a major vision loss. Indeed eye is one of the most sensitive yet essential parts of our body. And the good news is you won’t need to approach an eye specialist frequently if you take proper care of your eyesight. Let’s discuss what all home treatment can improve your vision in brief:

1. Increase the intake of vitamins and minerals

You won’t suffer from macular degeneration if you add some green veggies like spinach, broccoli, carrots, and colorful fruits such as strawberries and citrus to your daily regime.

2. Practice eye exercises

If you are someone who prefers staying away from physical exercises that strain your body then worry not. Eye exercises are way too simple to be practiced. Here is how to practice it:

  • Hold an object (pencil) at a particular distance from your eye. Focus on the object and slowly bring it closer to your eyes. Let the object come to a point when your vision gets blurred. This way, move that object back and forth 3-4 times.

3. Carry an eyewear

Whether you’re reading a book, playing your favorite game, or simply doing a chemistry experiment in the science lab, always carry the protective eyewear to avoid any sort of strain to your eyes.

Although normal eyewear would work while performing your regular tasks, you should get strong defensive glasses if you’re engaged in the activities that involve risk. For instance, always put on the protective eyewear while using sharp items, working with chemicals or metal shards, or even playing some extreme sports that are associated with eye risks.

4. Adhere to the 20-20-20 technique

Basically, your eyes get stressed after the constant working hours. And that is especially in the case of the people who sit in front of the laptop the whole day to accomplish their job. In order to help people to get rid of this intense strain, 20-20-20 rule has been developed. Let’s see how it works:

If you’re performing your day-to-day tasks on your PC follow this rule. Every after a duration of 20 minutes, just keep your eyes off from the PC screen and look at other objects present at a distance of 20 feet for about 20 seconds.

5. Avoid giving the germs access to your eyesight

Being a sensitive part of your body, your eyes are prone to develop hazardous infections quickly. Do you know that even the minor things can negatively influence your sight to a great extent? Hence, prior to touching your eyes, make sure that your hands are washed properly and are free of any filth and dirt. Moreover, always clean your lenses with a cotton dab to take out the dust stuck in it.
