He notes that there are several hidden vascular benefits of yoga. Without much ado, here are 6 hidden benefits of Bikram yoga on blood vessels.

1. Practicing Bikram yoga can help lower blood pressure

The benefits of this type of yoga in lowering blood pressure are well-documented. The relaxation effects that this yoga has on blood vessels have been shown to help with relaxing blood vessels thus reducing blood pressure, at the same time increasing the flow of blood to the heart. A recent study done to establish the effect of a one-year yoga intervention in older and middle-aged adults showed that yoga can significantly lower the risk of hypertension.

2. It can significantly lower your risk of heart disease

According to the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, yoga plays a crucial role in modifying the risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This is after test trials using a sample of 182 middle-aged adults suffering from metabolic syndrome experienced lowered blood pressure after practicing yoga for a year. Yoga has also been recommended as the primary protection against cardiovascular disease.

3. It helps counter adverse changes in blood vessels

Scientific evidence shows that changes in blood vessels can lead to the suppression of the endocrine system. This can lead to a disruption in the neurovascular function thus causing cortex depression, headaches, and migraine pains. Research seeking to establish the role of Bikram yoga on lowering headache frequency and migraine pains showed that this yoga can help counter changes in blood vessels, which are attributed to increased headache frequency and migraine pains. It is also ideal for countering age-related changes in the blood vessels, which can hinder proper blood circulation.

 

4. It helps with relaxing blood vessels thus boosting blood circulation

In Bikram yoga and other types of yoga, the body is totally relaxed, and so are the veins, capillaries, and other blood vessels. This can help increase blood flow to all parts of the body. An improved blood flow translates to a better cardiovascular health, not to mention the lower risk of heart disease and high blood pressure. Poor blood circulation has been associated with several health problems.
